Get Ready for the 2025 Kerala School IT Mela: Important New Guidelines Announced!
The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) has officially released the circular for the 2025 School IT Mela, a key component of the annual Kerala School Sasthrolsavam (Science Fair). This year introduces several significant updates and changes that all student participants, teachers, and coordinators need to be aware of.
The most crucial change is that all competitions will now be conducted on the new KITE Ubuntu 22.04 operating system, reflecting the updated curriculum for the 2025-26 academic year.
Here’s a breakdown of the specific instructions and key dates.
Competition-Specific Rules
To ensure a smooth and fair competition, KITE has outlined the following rules for various events :
-
Malayalam Typing: Participants must use the default Malayalam keyboard layouts available in the new OS, which are Poorna and Extended Inscript. For typing chillaksharangal (conjunct consonants), the use of atomic chillus is mandatory.
-
Animation: In addition to previously allowed applications, competitors can now also use OpenToonz. The final animation must be exported and saved in either MP4 or AVI format.
-
Digital Painting & Presentation (രചനയും അവതരണവും): The theme for this year's competition is "Science and Humanity" (ശാസ്ത്രവും മാനവികതയും). Participants will have a strict time limit of 5 minutes to present their work.
-
Web Page Designing: Content will be provided to the contestants, who can then select and modify it as needed for their web page designs.
-
Scratch Programming: This competition must be conducted using Scratch 3 (TurboWarp).
