📚 National Reading Day & Month Celebrations 2025
As in previous years, June 19th will be observed as National Reading Day and the period up to July 16th as Reading Month in schools across Kerala.
Schools are instructed to celebrate Reading Day and Reading Month with meaningful and creative programmes that inspire reading habits among students and the school community.
📝 Key Guidelines for Schools:
- Mandatory Participation:
All schools must actively participate and conduct suitable events for Reading Day and Reading Month.
- Reading Day Observation (June 19):
Each school should conduct a formal Reading Day programme. The details should be documented and reported.
- Book Exhibitions and Reading Fairs:
Organize book exhibitions and fairs with digital reading activities, quizzes, and inter-school competitions involving student participation.
- Seminars and Symposiums:
Conduct seminars, symposia, and workshops on reading and literary development.
- Anti-Drug Awareness Activities:
Organize sessions and discussions highlighting the role of reading in preventing substance abuse.
- Literary Competitions:
Include essay writing, story writing, speech competitions, poetry recitation, and group discussions.
- Creative Competitions:
Conduct drawing and painting competitions related to reading and books.
- Reading Practice Activities:
Arrange storytelling sessions, shared reading, digital reading practice, and reading habit development activities. - Folk Arts and Cultural Programmes:
Present folk arts that promote reading and cultural heritage.
- Reading Promotion Exhibitions:
Set up bulletin boards, reading corners, and temporary libraries to enhance access and awareness.
